Massachusetts’ state reptile is the harmless Garter Snake; so it may not seem likely as a deadly vipers’ nest. Yet, frighteningly large snakes are included among the many unusual animals reported in the strange and ominous Hockomock Swamp. Unsettlingly, the much-maligned swamp is not the only place to report large snakes.
